In 2011 Elms and film director Samuel Mildner collaborated on an audio-visual work that was to explore the world of music and film without either medium taking precedence over the other. L.O.V.E. was the result of this collaboration, which combines a chamber orchestra, expanded percussion section (including a submerged plunger), electric guitar and compact organ with an abstract motion-picture collage.

Early on in the collaborative process, the decision was made to avoid written narrative or staged events and to focus upon humanist representation. To create this humanist filmic element, Elms and Mildner setup an online form in December 2010, which invited internet users to submit their home video footage of what they perceived “love” to be. Despite the seemingly open invitation for a torrent of homemade erotica, the submission process yielded some profound pieces of footage, including a family collection of home videos in the Super 8mm format that documented an entire lifetime.
